Pavillion Polyfilla Started!

Well I had a bash at the polyfilla/pva method of doing the external finish on the old Garden Pavillion.  Also gave the windows and doors a final coat of paint as well.

The polyfilla was quite a fun way, but oh boy did I make a mess with it, was flying everywhere!  I started off with a brush but soon got fed up with that, and ended up using my hands, very messy indeed!  It looks better than I thought it would and I think I will leave it alone!  Not even sure I will paint it either.  Just sitting here waiting and praying it doesn't all crack and fall off as it dries!  Fingers crossed!    I think the windows will be ok and even the old patio doors (that are just now a large window lol) with the strut in place looks ok, well it will have to as I can't replace it!

That's really been my mornings work so far, just got to leave it alone, i keep fiddling with it but must have hands off!

Patchwork Done!

Well my mini patchwork is finished now.  Not quite how I wanted it to turn out, but decided not to wait till i got to the fabric shop, so made do with what I had.

Did a bit more painting on The Garden Pavillion, managed to put the door frame back together, and have given it a coat of paint, just off to finish the other side now before bed, let it dry overnight.   Made a strut for the middle of the door frame so hoping it will either look like a big picture window or a patio door.

May try my hand at doing the outside tomorrow, going to try a pollyfilla/pva mix, not sure what it will turn out like though, bit scary as if it's no good don't think it will ever come off!  Will give it a go anyway, see how it looks afterwards.  Hoping to get the same sort of finish as on my other houses so it will fit in.

Pavillion Revamped!

After thinking about it for a long while, I finally retrieved the Garden Pavillion from the depth of my wardrobe!  I had done it before, but never really liked it, and I broke the doors and windows (doh!) while putting it together, my excuse is it was my first ever build, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!  Well after hacking out the windows and doors, I then discovered I couldn't find any replacement ones the right size, contacted dhe and they didn't have any either!  So Plan B was to take them all apart, glue the broken bits back to together and paint them again, so I've done that apart from the french doors, so the windows are, shall we say "modified" and painted, and the side door's been glued back together and painted.  Still got the front doors which at a pinch I may be able to glue and paint, but have ordred a large georgian style window which should, and I say "should" with fingers crossed fit, which I'll modify a bit so it doesn't look georgian, well that's the theory, will have to wait till it arrives though.  I think I will make it a "Room to Let", it's a reasonable size so should be able to fit everything in and it will have a bright seasidey theme hopefully, with bed, living space and kitchenette and hopefully a loo and sink, will have to see how much room I have really!

My other project this weekend is making a mini patchwork, didn't take me as long as the others did so that was a good thing, but definitely going to invest in a rotary cutter for the material, much quicker than marking it out and cutting it, never used one before so hoping that's the case anyway!   I've not finished it off yet, need to find some fabric to back it with, but I've enjoyed it so far, you'll have to excuse the pics as it's still got the papers and tacking thread in, which I shall remove tonight and press it, then just the backing to do, although have to say that's the bit I like least both in miniature and full size!

I shall try and borrow a sewing machine to at least do my full size one, but the mini one I shall do by hand.

Thank You

A huge Thank You to my dear friend Paula for sending me this beautiful sign for Lobster Pot.  Even bigger thank you to Bethany (Paula's daughter) who made this beautiful sign, she really is a talented young lady.

The sign looks absolutely perfect and brightens up the house no-end.  I'm sure  business at the Tea Rooms will pick up now everyone can see what is hidden behind the doors!  I think I spotted Bill and Maggie heading towards the tea room for a lovely cream tea.

Finally!

Well, finally got round to tidying up the dollshouses in their new home.  My goodness they were dusty!  Put a few little bits in as well, and stuck (fingers crossed) the hanging baskets and flower troughs, not sure how long they'll stay up, so I'm listening for the clang, clang, clang as they fall off, no doubt will be in the middle of the night and make me jump!

Added the bits that my dear friend Paula made me, driftwood picture for bill, some pussy cats for Maggie (she is definitely the cat lady), shell collection basket for bill which he collects after he's pulled the boat back in after fishing, and awaiting some gorgeous home baking from Maggie, he's definitely going to have to watch his waistline!

Added a few more bits and pieces to the Tea Shop, some lovely bunting that Paula made, have added a "High Tea" spread in the living room as well, and a few little bits and pieces for the bedroom.  Still some way to go on this one, but I'm running out of ideas!  Also forgot that i'd put Bill's outhouse in the garden of the Tea Shop as well as it doesn't fit between Bill and Maggies anymore, so they'll have to have a short hop to get to the garden now!

That's been about it really, no pennies to buy anything at the moment, so will have to try and make a few bits, although I'm clueless really about what to make or how to make it!

Started the Easter knitting now, so hopefully will make a few pennies on ebay with that but bit early yet!

Hope everyone is well and is staying safe on Friday 13th!

Now for the pics!

Not Dollshouse But Other Pics!

Back again!  Still no dollshousing but thought I'd share a few other pics!   Dogs were groomed today so look and smell (lol) nice and clean!  For some reason they absolutely hate the camera and sculk away whenever I try and take pics of them, goodness knows what they think it's going to do, so they're not great.   Also a pic of my cats, who are not so shy!

Finally, here is the finished "Topsy Turvy" Cinderella Doll which I've made for my niece.

Unfortunately, also got letter from the hospital today with the date my my gallbladder removal, so got to go in on 14th February, which means got to start the yukky Milk Diet at end of January, 3 weeks of just 4 pints milk a day is not appealing!

Still no mini-ing, I really must get my bum moving and do something!  Still no inspirations or aspirations, but I must do something about them, I feel very guilty neglecting them, haven't touched them since well before Christmas.  Think I will leave them in my bedroom for now, but trouble is the outhouse/lavvy won't fit on the chest of drawers with the 2 houses, so may have to rethink that one.   Don't think they'd fit on the desk either with the outhouse, and the shop/cafe won't fit with one of the houses either, oh dear, what to do!

Anyway that's enough for now, off to watch East Enders, then of course Celeb BB.

Been a While

Well it looks like I've been very remiss with updating my blog!  If truth be told I haven't really done any mini-ing though.  Seem to have hit a bit of a brick wall with my cottages!

My brain seems to be stuck, dunno if it's Christmas that's got in the way or what!  Seem to have been doing mainly knitted stuff at the moment, will post a pic later of my topsy turvy doll that I'm doing for my niece.  Not 100% whether I like her that much or not though.  Will reserve judgement till she's finished, she's nearly there, just her hair to do.

Ahh well that's all for now, just wanted to make sure that I at least posted something even if it isn't dh related lol.

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and Happy New Year.
